Amazon proposes an ERE for 1,200 workers in its offices in Madrid and Barcelona



Amazon will launch a collective dismissal process, which would affect a maximum of 1,200 workers of its corporate offices in Spain, as reported by EP from knowledgeable sources. Specifically, the American multinational, which announced this week globally an adjustment that will affect 14,000 members of its corporate workforcehas opened two employment reduction files (ERE) in Spain in the companies Amazon Digital Spain, whose offices are located in Madrid, and Amazon Spain Services, located in Barcelona.

The adjustment announced today will focus on the employees that the multinational has in its corporate offices in Madrid and Barcelona and this measure, according to the same sources, would have no impact on the multinational’s operations nationally or in other Spanish cities. Amazon Spain has a total of 28,000 workers. This movement occurs days after the departure of approximately 14,000 people from the corporate workforce worldwide was announced. It must be taken into account that, around the world, Amazon employs about 1.5 million peopleof which about 350,000 are dedicated to corporate work.

Which contrasts with the results of the third quarter of the year at a global level.
