Caja Ingenieros plans to open up to three new offices in 2026 and focuses on young customers

Engineers Fund establishes in its physical network expansion plan an opening rate of offices with between one and five branches per year. The entity, which operates as a cooperative, distances itself from the sector’s tendency to cut branches and advocates this path to continue growing. As explained by the group’s general director, Juanjo Llopis, the approach involves betting for physical presence after opening four this 2025adding a total of 33 throughout Spain. Three of the new spaces are concentrated in Catalonia – its territory of origin – and the other remaining in Alicante.
The intention is to continue opening branches in provincial capitals, in addition to some municipalities that offer mobile banking. In fact, among the projects for the coming months is the development of a new financial application. “Customers have reduced the number of times they They go to a physical office, but they keep going“, he commented. At the moment, they are present in Madrid, the Valencian Community, Zaragoza, Seville and Bilbao.
Within the framework of Llopis’s first year at the helm, replacing Joan Cavallé, The manager has taken stock of these twelve monthsin which they have added 4,000 members, up to a total of 220,000, within the framework of record quarters. If in 2024 they achieved the best result in their history with 24 million and a year-on-year improvement of 20%, for 2025 they anticipate that It will also be historic, although the growth will be more modest. “We have grown up in a competitive environment,” he clarified.
The last quarters have marked status in the banking sector by BBVA’s takeover bid for Banco Sabadell, which ultimately did not go ahead, an operation that “has tightened market conditions”although the model on which Caja Ingenieros is based has allowed them to “come out protected” from this type of corporate movements.
Looking ahead to 2026, the last stage of its strategic plan ‘Transforma’are optimistic and confident of “continuing to grow in volume” in a environment that he describes as “still fragile”. In this sense, Llopis explained that among the objectives is reaching 230,000 members by December 2026, as well as becoming a “leader in cooperative banking”, a segment in which they still see room to grow in Spain. At the national level, this category of banking services barely represents 10% of the market share, figure lower than that recorded in countries like Francein which it reaches 60%, with the average for European countries being 23%. “The absence of savings banks justifies this gap,” he said.
Carlos Asensio, director of the services area of Caja Ingenieros, also participated in the meeting, and announced that another of the group’s objectives will be to attract new profiles beyond engineerswith the focus on the young audience. In this context, they have ventured to give some outlines of the roadmap from 2027, which will be conditioned by the advance of artificial intelligence, for which they are already preparing with “own” technology.
