Libra case experts detect eliminated files that could be compromising

An expert report in Argentina revealed that one of the electronic devices seized during the raids in the case behind the Token Libra, released by President Javier Milei and investigated for alleged scam, contained multiple deleted files.

The deleted files were found in a Mauricio Novelli deviceone of the main involved in the investigation for alleged fraud related to the launch of the Token. According to sources close to the file, although the eliminated material may not be relevant, there is also the possibility that it is sensitive to the government.

The report was prepared by the Computer Analysis Laboratory of the Public Ministry and delivered to the federal prosecutor Eduardo Taiano. This includes details on the content of pendrives, computers and other novelli devices.

According to the experts, a 32 GB Sony pendrive contained several deleted folders, some of which could recover through forensic techniques such as Carving: a process that allows you to rebuild files from fragments that still remain in the memory of a device.

Among the titles detected are files related to economics, mathematics, movies and series. However, the experts warned that the real content can only be verified once the files are fully recovered.

American businessman Hayden Mark Davis, also involved in the case, had said in an interview that President Javier Milei would have recorded a video in support of the launch of the cryptoactivealthough it was never published or found. This opens the possibility that this material is among the deleted files, suggested a source with access to the file.

Experts should still analyze in detail the content of the files, since some titles seem harmless, such as the unknown version of 50 shades of Gray or episodes of series such as the mentalist and the story of the maid. But, Specialists warn that each one must be verified individually to confirm their true content.

The Libra case also presents other dark points. For example, the Migration Information Directorate did not find entry or exit records from Julián Peh, CEO of Kip Protocol – the company behind the Token – who participated in the Tech Forum event with Novelli and Manuel Terrones Godoy.

Another person under investigation is Sergio Morales, an alleged ex -assistant of the National Securities Commission (CNV) in Cryptactive and Partner of Manuel Terrones Godoy. Local media expressed that, in a judicial statement, Morales denied having participated in the creation, promotion or marketing of Libra and claimed to have seen Karina Milei only twice.

As Cryptonotics reported, in the middle of the controversy, the Government of Javier Milei decided to dissolve the research task unit (UTI), created in February to carry out an internal investigation on the LIBRA case. This decision was formalized in Decree 335/2025, published on May 19, which indicates that the agency fulfilled its objective by collecting and sending relevant information to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
