Raydium launched its creator of Memecoins who competes with Pump.fun

Yesterday, April 16, Raydium, the main decentralized exchange (DEX) of the Solana Red, launched a tokens and memecoins creation platform called Launchlab.

As cryptootics has reported, Launchlab is a platform that allows you to launch tokens through an interface that does not require the user to have extensive programming knowledge.

In this environment, liquidity is generated through a linking curve (Bonding Curve) with the Raydium automated market infrastructure (AMM).

A linking curve is a mathematical mechanism that determines the price of a token based on its offer in circulation. That is, it allows the active price to increase automatically as more units are issued, and decrease when they are withdrawn.

In this way, the curve acts as an AMM within an intelligent contract, without the need for traditional buyers or sellers, facilitating liquidity and allowing a transparent and predictable funds.

As reported by the Raydium development team, when the predefined target of 85 solana (sun), $ 11,000 at the current price is reached, in mode Justsendit (A default configuration for fast releases), the collected Suns and equivalent tokens are automatically transferred to a liquidity pool in the Raydium AMM.

In addition, Liquidity tokens are blocked or burned to ensure long -term stability.

Of 100% of the rates generated by trading, 50% is allocated to a community fund for creators and merchants. The remaining percentage is divided as follows: 25% for infrastructure and operations and another 25% will be allocated for Raydium (Ray) repurchases, the Native Token of the Dex de Solana.

The appearance of Launchlab occurs a few weeks after Pump.fun, another platform dedicated to the creation of Memecoins in Solana, presented Pumpwap, his own DEX. Therefore, comparisons between both developments are inevitable.

But, Why are we talk about a rivalry or competition between Raydium and Pump.fun?

Before the appearance of Pumpwap, the assets created in Pump.Fun were channeled through Raydium, generating approximately 30% of the total exchange volume in the DEX.

Pumpwap changed this process, seeking to maintain control over its volume, liquidity and culture in the Solana memes ecosystem.

Infra, an anonymous collaborator of the Raydium nucleus, referred to this “rivalry” with Pump.fun and said: “We do not seek to compete with the platforms used by Raydium. Launchlab offers a neutral infrastructure and without permits to facilitate the launch of Tokens.”

He also clarified that Launchlab is not Fork (bifurcation) of Pump.fun. “The Launchlab interface mimics its design by familiarity, but it is much more versatile,” he said.

Ray’s price uploads

Looking ahead, the great unknown is whether Launchlab will give a new impulse to the Memecoins market, which are not having a great performance so far in 2025.

A sample of this is that the market capitalization of cryptocurrencies memes It fell from 137,000 million dollars, its historical maximum reached in August 2024, to 46,000 million dollars. It is a fall greater than 66%.

Cathie Wood, CEO of the investment firm Ark Investment, believes that the proliferation of these assets, facilitated by tools such as those of Launchlab and Pump.fun, could result in an overproduction of tokens without solid foundations.

“The combination of cryptocurrency networks and artificial intelligence is creating millions of memecoins that will not be worth much,” he explains.

Infra, on the other hand, makes another reading of the situation and highlights that Launchlab is the first step of a project whose ultimate goal is to “enhance the solana ecosystem.”
