They create a ‘joint venture’ for the development of data centers in Spain
Iberdrola AND ECHELON DATA CENTERSleader and leader of infrastructure of large -scale data centers in Europe, have announced a strategic alliance (Joint Venture) to build and operate data centers in Spain.
As reported by Iberdrola on Monday, it is about greater binding agreement of this type from Europe between an energy and a developer of these technological infrastructure.
Through this collaboration, Iberdrola will have 20% of the shareholdersthrough its CPD4Green subsidiary, and will be responsible for identifying and ensuring land with connectivity to the electricity grid where to develop the centers. In addition, electricity will supply these centers.

For its part, Echelon, a technology company based in Dublin and owned by Starwood Capital Group, will have 80% of society and will deal with the development, design, marketing and daily management of the joint company.
The first of the projects of this Joint Venture It will be Madrid Sur, a complex of 160,000 square meters which will offer 144 megawatts (MW) of data processing and has already insured 230 MW electrical connection.
This center, which will create about 1,500 jobs and that it is expected to be operational before 2030will involve a demand of 1 Teravatio per hour (TWH) that will be covered with a photovoltaic solar plant that will be built in situ, complemented with additional Iberdrola clean energy capacity.
