will launch a wallet on Android and iOS

BBVA has reached a agreement with Visa to launch a digital wallet for devices that use the Android and iOS operating systems, called BBVA Payas detailed in a statement, so that it will compete with Google and Apple. It will be the first bank with a solution of this type in the Apple ecosystem.
Currently, for payment with mobile devices the most widespread solution is to use theown applications from Google (Google Wallet) or Apple (Apple Pay). Users can insert any card into these systems, but the applications are specific to the two technologies.
Now, BBVA will allow you to pay contactless, using the NFC system, with this solution, directly from the app BBVA mobile banking. The solution will be progressively available to all the bank’s clients in Spain.
“With this measure, BBVA and Visa reinforce their commitment to innovation and free competition”, BBVA has stated, recalling that this wallet will allow its clients to pay without using third-party services.
The bank has explained that users will have a “secure and fully integrated” alternative within the bank’s digital ecosystem without having to share data with third parties.
“By leveraging the scale and technology of our global network, we are enabling secure, scalable and seamless payment experiences that respond to the new needs of users and accelerate the digital transformation in Europe”, highlighted Visa’s vice president of Global Clients, Javier Sandoval.
