XRP is the native currency of a new Ripple compatible network with Ethereum

On June 30, 2025, Ripple, together with the Peersyst technology company, announced the launch of the main XRPL Evm Sidechain network, marking the end of a period of tests that began on March 31 in the Testnet (Test network).

At the time of this article, the XRPL EVM Sidechain, according to Explorer.xrplevm.org, Process blocks every 5.7 seconds and records transaction commissions averaging $ 0.01.

That Sidechainin turn, it already has 50 integrated applications, including some for decentralized finances (DEFI), gaming and education applications.

As for the amount of transactions and accounts operating in this new network, these data are not yet updated to June 30 at the block explorer of the blocks of the Sidechain.

The information of that source indicates that until June 29 (still in the test stage) the side chain registered a total of around 8,500 transactions and contains 449 addresses, although, although, although, although, Only 24 accounts were active June 29.

On the other hand, the token XRP works as the native token to pay the transaction rates in the new chain and this Sidechain Includes a bridge to connect with XRPL through Axlar, facilitating asset transfer between both networks.

A network that promises to join two ecosystems: Ethereum and XRP

As previously explained, the XRPL EVM Sidechain is an independent side chain of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) network and compatible with the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM). Its implementation aims to establish an interoperability frame between the ecosystems of Ethereum and XRPL.

The XRPL EVM Sidechain creates a conducive environment for XRPL collaborators to display applications that enable the interaction with Ethereum, according to the Ripplex team, an initiative that fosters tools for developers in the XRPL.

By offering compatibility with EVM, it allows the use of Native Ethereum programming language, Solidity, as well as using the Wallet Metamask and Hardhat, an open source tool designed for the creation and management of intelligent contracts. These contracts, programs that execute operations automatically, are directly supported through EVM.

Ripple’s announcement added that developers can start the creation of applications from now on using the Endpoint Grove public, a platform that offers tools, infrastructure and services to facilitate development in the XRPL EVM Sidechain.

Finally, the XRPL EVM Sidechain uses an authority proof consensus algorithm (POA) with more than “25 validators”, according to Ripplex, although the explorer differs from that figure, listing a list of 6 active validators.
