Air Europa relieves its CEO Jesús Nuño de la Rosa after returning the 475 million from the Sepi rescue

Air Europa communicates the departure of its CEO Jesús Nuño de la Rosa after reaching an agreement with its president Juan José Hidalgo. The movement, announced this Monday, coincides with the early repayment of the loans of 475 million to the State Society of Industrial Participations (SEPI) formalized two weeks ago. The company emphasizes that the agreement “has been signed in an atmosphere of friendship and maximum cordiality” and “has been approved by the company’s board of directors.”
Naturally, this adjustment also implies the departure from the council of the representatives of the investment arm of the Government, César Hernández Blanco and Juan Manuel Bujía. “This decision is framed within the current context of the company, which has made the advance payment of the loan granted by Sepi, one year in advance of the originally established date,” the airline details.
In this way, Nuño de la Rosa puts an end to a mandate that began last 2022 at a key moment for the company, with the takes 20% of its capital by IAG after converting a participatory loan of 100 million and its subsequent purchase attempt that was diluted due to Brussels restrictions. Its last months have been marked by the shareholder renewal that has led to the Turkish Airlines entry in its capital with 26% in exchange for 300 million.
