The contract that has attracted the interest of the sector It is valued by the manager at around 56 million euros and is part of the expansion and modernization program of the railway corridor that connects with the Chamartín station. The new base will include two tracks beaches -with seventeen tracks of 405 useful meters each- equipped with technical platforms for the getting on and off of driving and maintenance personnel. The administration supports the investment in the need to increase the parking capacity and technical support of high-speed trains in the face of the growth in rail traffic. In addition, complementary actions, such as the opening of new accesses and connectivity improvements in Chamartín, aim to reinforce the capital’s position as a hub competitive intermodal rail in Europe. In this context, the station is in the process of expansion and remodeling. In the area of high speed, it will go from having six lanes to a total of twelve through lanes (from 14 to 25). Subsequently, and within the framework of its transformation through the Chamartín-Open Ecosystem project, it is planned that the station will add another six more high-speed tracks (from 26 to 31), bringing the total to 18.
