“I am not optimistic about Spain, we are missing the only thing that cannot be bought”

The Catalan businessman Jose Eliasowner of La Sirena and with an estimated net worth of 900 million euros, is a regular on social networks, where his opinions on finances and business frequently go viral.

In one of his latest publications on his X account (formerly Twitter), Elías gives a diagnosis about Spain, its possibilities and what we are missing. “100 years ago, Spain was an empire. Today, An American doesn’t even know where we are,” He starts saying.

But the Badalona businessman clarifies: “I am not optimistic about Spain and it is not for lack of resources. “We have a wonderful country with advantages that other countries do not have.”

“We have a brutal geopolitical position. We are the natural exit from Europe towards America. And We have something that many countries would pay to have: sun. We could fill Cuenca with photovoltaic panels and give light to all of Europe,” he continues in his reflection.

Elías says that “the sun generates millions of euros for us every day in Spain. We just have to collect them. And we don’t do it. “If we had cheaper electricity, the biggest companies would come here.”

“But we lack the only thing that cannot be bought: leadership. We need someone to make a list of problems and provide solutions. There is a lack of a 20-year plan,” says José Elías in his tweet.

“But like politicians They only look at their navel for the next four years, They are indifferent to everything that comes after them. That’s why I’m not optimistic about Spain,” concludes the millionaire.
