Iberdrola brings together a hundred suppliers in Bilbao to present its global awards



Iberdrola has brought together more than a hundred collaborating companies to celebrate a new edition of its Global Supplier of the Year Awardsan appointment with which the energy group seeks to strengthen its network of suppliers at a time marked by the modernization of networks and the acceleration of electrification in several markets.

The meeting, held at the Iberdrola Tower, brought together partners from Spain, United Kingdom, Portugal, Croatia, Korea either Netherlands. This year, the company has divided the recognitions into six categories, ranging from innovation to sustainability or industrial development.

The main prize – the Supplier of the Year Special– fell to the British KIRBYone of the companies with which Iberdrola works on updating the British electricity grid. This recognition comes in a context in which the group is intensifying investments in critical infrastructure in the United Kingdom, one of its strategic markets.

In the technological field, the award to Digitalization and New Technologies was awarded to AWS Amazon (United States), while the award for Innovation It was for the Biscayan Electrotechnical Arteche Hermanosspecialized in electrical solutions and one of the group’s historical suppliers.

In the category referring to industrial development and job creation, Iberdrola distinguished to NKT Cables Portugal as Best Equipment Manufacturer Supplierand the Group GAROC (Spain) as Best Supplier of Works and Servicesa recognition that underlines the weight of civil works in the deployments of renewables and smart networks.

The section of Implication fell to the Austrian Andritz Hydrolinked to hydroelectric and storage projects, while the Croatian KONČAR – Distribution and Special Transformers was awarded in Sustainabilityat a time when the energy sector intensifies environmental requirements throughout the value chain.

The global CEO participated in the event, Pedro Azagraand the CEO of Iberdrola Spain, Mario Ruiz-Tagle. Azagra stressed during his speech that these awards “reflect the commitment to a solid, innovative and sustainable supply chain”, key – he said – to sustain the electrification strategy that the company has been promoting for more than two decades.

The energy company insists that its global network of suppliers allows it to plan investments with greater certainty and respond to the challenges linked to the expansion of renewables, smart networks and storage systems, pillars on which Iberdrola articulates its international growth.
