Iberia will add the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft to its fleet after the summer


Iberia will be the shuttle airline for the new Airbus aircraft, since it will receive the first A321XLR on the market after the summer, and that will allow strengthening Iberia’s long-haul fleetand will do so in a more sustainable and innovative way by offering the possibility of operating the airline’s transoceanic routes also with a narrow bodythat is, with a single aisle, according to the airline company.

This incorporation will reinforce the airline’s network of destinations with a special focus on America, because in addition to having more units with the range to make transoceanic trips, the A321XLR will allow make more efficient use of the fleet according to the demand of each of the markets. In fact, the first long-haul destination to which this new model will travel will likely be Washington, followed by Boston.

One of the great innovations that the A321XLR will introduce is that it will be able to make long-haul flights with a single-aisle aircraft, and all of this offering a premium service at the same height as that enjoyed in wide body models such as the A330 or A350 of the Iberia fleet.

This model will have 182 seats in Business and Economy cabin configuration, and will include various improvements that offer greater comfort to customers, among which more spacious trunks stand outwith a storage capacity of up to 60% more carry-on suitcases, six different cabin lighting modes or a modern panel at the entrance of the plane, among others.

In the case of the Business cabin, the A321XLR will have 14 individual seats with windows and direct access to the aisle. In addition, the seats will offer maximum comfort, with a ‘full flat’ seat that converts into a bed, a wide leather backrest for the head, compartments for personal items and a structure that offers great comfort and privacy.

All Business seats have an individual 18-inch screen with 4K quality, more sharpness in the image and with better tones in dark mode. All this, accompanied by the best entertainment on board.

In addition, each seat will have its own lighting system, which can be regulated independently to adjust the light to the desired environment, while at the same time each seat will have its number backlit during night mode, to find your location more easily.

Similarly, the Airbus A321XLR will have 168 seats in the Economy cabin with the latest Recaro model installed, the CL3810, which is the evolution of the seats on current long-haul aircraft, with a four inch recline and leather headrests. The seats will have two additional pockets to store personal items.

All cabins of the new A321XLR will offer customers the possibility of bringing their own headphones and connecting them via Bluetooth; In addition, they include enhanced USB type A and C charging ports. The seat tables allow customers to place your own electronic devices so that they can use them more comfortably. Additionally, the A321XLR will have connectivity so that customers can connect to the free WiFi service for messaging throughout the flight.
