Iberia will open new routes to Romania and Montenegro in summer 2026



Iberia will inaugurate two seasonal routes from Madrid to Bucharest (Romania) and Tivat (Montenegro) by summer 2026 which are part of the Flight Plan 2030, Iberia’s plan to grow and consolidate Madrid as a connection hub between Europe and America.

Flights to Bucharest will be operated between June 3 and September 30, 2026 with two weekly frequencies. This route responds to the growing tourist interest in Romania and, in turn, will facilitate connections from the country to America through the Madrid hub.

For its part, the route to Tivat will open on July 18 and will run until September 15, 2026also with two weekly frequencies.

Iberia’s seasonal route plan for next summer has Crocacia as one of the countries with the largest number of destinations. Flights to Dubrovnik will start operating in April and will continue until October, with up to 14 weekly frequencies.

Direct flights to Zagreb will also return, with up to nine weekly frequencies, now Split, which will also reach nine weekly frequencies.

From Catania to Ljubljana

For its part, in Italy, Iberia will recover flights with two cities in Sicily: Catania, starting in April, with up to eight weekly frequencies, and Palermo, with up to three weekly frequencies. Added to this are flights to Sardinia, specifically to Olbia (up to five weekly frequencies) and Cagliari (up to three).

In Greece, Iberia will offer flights to Corfu and Mykonos, with up to seven weekly frequencies, and to Santorini, with up to six weekly frequencies.

The airline will also resume its operations with Funchal (Madeira), with up to five weekly frequencies; Ponta Delgada (Azores), with three; Tirana (Albania), with three; and Ljubljana (Slovenia)with two weekly frequencies. In addition to the new routes, Iberia will increase its capacity in some of the most relevant European destinations for its network, such as Milan, Athens or Nice.
