Lotteries expect to sell more than 3.5 billion euros in tenths of the Christmas draw and exceed sales in 2024

The National Group of Provincial Associations of Lottery Administrators (ANAPAL) hopes to sell more than 3,500 million euros in tenths and participations in the extraordinary Christmas draw that will be held this Monday, December 22 at the Teatro Real, exceed last year’s sales and continue with the upward trend experienced in the last four years.

The administrations also hope to overcome the 175 million tenths sold for the Christmas raffle, which represents more than 30% of the total annual collection in public gambling.

For lotteries, the Christmas draw is very important since “It accounts for more than half of the year’s national lottery sales”according to the president of the National Group of Provincial Associations of Lottery Administrators (ANAPAL), Borja Muñiz.

Regarding the evolution of sales, the group highlights the “positive behavior, exceeding the sales and participation levels of previous years.” “We are satisfied since the evolution of these last months continues the positive trend and for this year we expect data similar to last year, which was already recordpossibly with a increase in sales with respect to 2024,” adds Muñiz.

ANAPAL emphasizes that the tax-exempt amount is 40,000 euros. Above that amount, the tax It is still 20%. Thus, they only maintain the obligation to pay taxes on the ‘Gordo’ and the second and third prizes, since neither the fourth nor the fifth prizes exceed the exempt threshold.
