New plus on the payroll? The extra that the unions propose to add to your salary
The general secretary of UGT, Pepe Alvarezproposes a new plus that could be included in some selective agreements. This was done in an interview he offered to Servimedia. This is where he considered it “positive” that some sectors could introduce an extra to help their workers when it comes to facing the cost of housing in the most stressed areas. This would make it easier for people to travel to those places.
In the interview he stated that “we have to analyze this issue, because if there is not going to be serious difficulties with the salaries paid“In addition, the general secretary of UGT has assured that we cannot “ignore” the problems that some workers from certain communities have when moving to another in which housing is stressed: “If we want the employment lists to continue to go down in Spain, we cannot ignore them.”
The problem that companies can have
Álvarez has raised the big question: “What happens to a person who is unemployed in Extremadura, who has his own home, who has some other means of subsistence, who has his garden, who has a life that allows him to not have to spend as much as if he goes to work in Mallorca, Alicante or any other area, or to Malaga?”
Considers that if the problems caused by the housing crisis are not taken into account, many companies are going to have “serious difficulties” to begin filling vacancies in those areas where housing prices are very high.
In this sense, the head of UGT has announced that he will present housing together with CCOO as a key issue and that it will be incorporated into the VI Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC) and its validity ends on December 31.
