“The grandparents of the future will share a flat”

He future of pensions In Spain it is a complete mystery for the youngest. When thinking about the future, many observe with some envy the life that retirees currently have because they can enjoy a more active and healthy time than other generations. However, with an increasingly aging population and a progressively shrinking contributor base, the public system is constantly changing.

Young people already think about what their lives will be like when they stop working. For this reason, given the increase in life expectancy and uncertainty about the sustainability of pensions, many make the decision to start creating their own fund in order to have a calmer and smoother old age. And it is precisely about the future of pensions that the billionaire businessman has spoken out about. Jose Elias on their social networks.

José Elías: “The pensions are not going to be enough”

It was through a tweet on his official X account (former Twitter) where he spoke on this matter. The billionaire believes that “pensions they are not going to give for more“, so the situation of hundreds of retirees is going to be precarious. In fact, it is clear what their future will be: “The grandparents of the future will share a flat”.

“We’ve been talking about ‘coworking’ and ‘coliving’ for years as if it were a cool fad. I’m not worried about young people sharing a flat.but 50-year-old people who live in rent do. I see people in their 50s who pay 1,000 bucks in rent, are up to their necks and have not saved anything in their lives. What will happen when they retire?”says Elías in his message.

The businessman assures that all the elderly who do not have a property will have a problem: “They will receive a pension of €800 and They won’t be able to pay the rent. And that’s when they will have to coliving with other grandparents. There are fewer and fewer of us who pay pensions and more and more of us who collect. “People are living longer and the demographic pyramid is inverted.”.

And he concludes with a very strong message: “This country was sold the motorcycle that renting was cool. And yes, it is if you have your life figured out, but if you are poor as a rat, you have to buy. It is the only thing that allows you to live when you reach the end of your days.”
