According to figures from the latest Petroleum Bulletin of the European Union (EU), which collects data from 11,400 Spanish service stations between May 13 and 20, the average price of gasoline in Spain fell by 1.66% compared to the price from the previous week while diesel increased by 2.35% to cost 1.495 euros per liter.
These data show that a liter of gasoline has been 4.94% more expensive than a year before and diesel, 4.33%.

So far in 2024 The price of a liter of gasoline has fallen by 7.95%, while the price of diesel has remained practically stable.
Last week’s price drop comes after gasoline reached its peak in early May. annual maximum when reaching 1,687 euros per liter.
Despite the price levels of this year, the liter of gasoline remains far from the maximums that were reached in June 2022when it cost 1.941 euros per liter with the discount of 20 cents that was applied then included, and the liter of diesel, 1.9 euros.
In the case of gasoline, the price is 14.63% below those highs, when the effects of the Russian invasion of Ukraine skyrocketed prices, and diesel is 20.31% cheaper.
Prices for filling the tank
With last week’s prices, filling an average tank of 55 liters of gasoline would cost 91.14 euros and in the case of doing it with diesel oil the price would be 82.22 euros.
The price of gasoline in Spain was once again below the average of the Twenty-seven of the European Union (EU), where the price of gasoline rose to 1,772 euros per liter and 1,622 euros in the case of diesel.
It was also below the European Union average, where 1,823 euros per liter of gasoline and 1,642 euros per liter of diesel were paid.
