Two New York Police detectives would be involved in case of crypto torture

A case of kidnapping and torture to an Italian cryptocurrency entrepreneur in New York, has now given a new turn with the suspicion that two city police detectives could have been involved.
The members of the New York Police Department, Roberto Cordero and Raymond J. Low, have been put in modified service following an investigation of the authorities that seek to know the links between the detectives with the kidnapping of an Italian tourist at the beginning of the month, who was violently tortured to deliver millions in cryptocurrencies.
Last week, the New York City Police reported having arrested two suspects of keeping Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, of Italian nationality.
The criminals, among which it is reported was an early user of Bitcointhey would have kept the victim kidnapped in a luxurious apartment of Prince Street, Soho, where he was hit and subjected him to horrific aggressions that included electric shocks and threats to be mutilated with an electric chain.
Two detectives under investigation, including the mayor’s bodyguard
Now, new reports have revealed that the two detectives would have provided security in the luxurious residence where the incident occurred. The news media New York Times reported citing statements from officials with knowledge of the case.
Cordero, who has also served for years as a security agent of the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, He would have collected the victim of the airport on May 6 and would have taken him back to the house, where he was captive until his escape last week, according to the report published Thursday.
It is not clear if the detectives were employed or if they worked for a private security company, he wrote the publication before clarifying that the police rules restrict officers to work for security companies without the approval of the department.
It is also unknown if the men were present at the location during the time of crime.
According to reports, both have previous history. Lamb, Guardian of the mayor, has been the subject of several complaints accusing him of abusing his authority and using physical force, including a 2014 claim.
Low, the other detective who investigates narcotics cases in Manhattan, has been appointed in nine complaints that date from 2008, including one that accuses him of making a false official statement and using a strangulation, he shared New York Times.
While both officers have been restricted to desk work in the midst of the investigation, the two arrested for suspected of incurring the crime, John Woeltz and William Dupplessie, face accusations and are in the midst of a judicial case.
Carturan managed to flee the residence where his captors kept him kidnapped under threats to deliver the password of a wallet where he allegedly stored millions of dollars in Bitcoin. He himself alerted the police and denounced the case.
