Who can apply for the Veo Plan, dates, amounts and requirements



More than half a million children and adolescents in Spain will benefit from the new help for the purchase of glasses, prescription lenses and contact lenses which the Council of Ministers approved this Tuesday. It is intended for minors up to 16 years of age and is expected to be applied to purchases made until December 31, 2026 at the time of payment. It is what is known as Plan I Seean exceptional measure that is endowed with 47.7 million euros.

This aid will cover the cost of some essential optical products, that is, basic frames with organic prescription lenses with anti-reflective or contact lenses. The beneficiaries will be able to access it through the participating entities that will apply the discount at the time of purchase and will manage the refund together with the General Council of Colleges of Opticians-Optometrists (CGCOO)that is, the collaborating entity that assumes the function of coordination with the opticians or compensation of costs.

“Without this correction, we could have a great impact on learning, well-being and development,” stated the Minister of Health, Monica Garciaat the press conference after the Council of Ministers.

Who can apply for help from the Veo Plan?

This help will be aimed at all children under 16 years of age who need glasses or contact lenses, regardless of the type of visual problem they present. Furthermore, access will be universal, that is, There will be no distinction by income level or autonomous community.

The amount of aid for glasses and contact lenses

As we have said before, The aid is 100 euros per person to cover essential optical costs. That is, to buy products such as prescription glasses, but maintenance for one year is also included.

It must also be taken into account that if the cost of the glasses or contact lenses is less than that amount, the family you won’t have to pay anythingwhile if it is higher, they must make the difference. In the case of contact lenses, the aid can cover the liquid or units needed for one year.

How can you ask for help?

In order to apply for help, families will have to get a prescription from a health professional from the public or private system in which the need to purchase prescription glasses or contact lenses is justified.

Afterwards, those interested You must go to an optician that is on the official list published by the Ministry of Health in the Official State Gazette (BOE).. At the optician’s office you will have to present that medical prescription, the child’s ID, the family book or the health card. This will be the way to verify that the beneficiary has not obtained aid in that same year.

Furthermore, in the coming weeks the General Council of Colleges of Opticians-Optometrists will open a platform in which it will register the establishments that are part of the Veo Plan.
