Aena heads into a new record year of profits after earning 9% more and exceeding 1,500 million until September

The Spanish airport manager Aena is accountable to the market to once again show off its great financial muscle. The company controlled by the State – through the 51% that Enaire holds – registered, from January to Septembera net profit of 1,579 million euroswhich represents an increase of 8.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the heat of the good performance of tourism, its airports (located in Spain, London-Luton and Brazil) have provided service to 294.1 million travelers, 4.1% more than a year ago. Hence, its income has increased by 8.8% to reach 4,785.2 million euros at the end of September.

The company led by Maurici Lucena operates with its new investment plan as a backdrop. Within the framework of the third Airport Regulation Document (DORA 3), Aena foresees an investment of 12,888 million euros for the period 2027-2031 that will be dedicated to adapting its infrastructure to the expected growth in demand. In the prelude to this stage, the group chooses to execute a sharp cut of 6.7% in its net financial debt, which was reduced to 5,127 million, which translates into a leverage ratio of 1.37 times EBITDA.

By business lines, aeronautical revenues amounted to 2,556.2 million euros, 5.5% more, driven by the notable increase in passenger traffic. In line with the trend projected in its latest balance sheets, Aena is an increasingly commercial company. Or at least, this is demonstrated by the new growth of 10.8% that its commercial income experienced until reaching 1,466.1 million euros in this period thanks to greater activity and the bidding for new spaces. Nor does it take away the focus from the real estate business, whose services contributed 98.2 million after growing 13.7%.
