Gasoline adds its fifth week of falls and diesel the third

He gasoline price has chained its fifth week of falls and that of the diesel the third, pushing both fuels back to new lows since mid-June.

Specifically, The average price of a liter of diesel stood at 1,394 euros this weekafter falling 0.14% compared to last week, thus consolidating below the level of 1.4 euros, according to data from the EU Oil Bulletin.

For its part, The average price per liter of gasoline has registered a decrease of 0.13% compared to last week, to fall back to 1,464 euros, also at the lowest level since mid-June.

With these price levels, so far in 2025 gasoline has become 4% cheaper compared to the end of the previous year, while The price of diesel has fallen by 3.4% so far this year.

Despite these recent falls, Filling an average tank of 55 liters of diesel costs about 76.67 eurosabout six euro cents more than on the same dates last year, when it amounted to about 76.61 euros. For its part, for gasoline vehicles, filling an average tank (55 liters) currently represents an outlay of about 80.52 euros, about 2.36 euros less than a year ago, when it exceeded 82.88 euros.

The average price per liter of diesel remains clearly maintained below the levels it was at before the outbreak of the Russian invasion of Ukrainewhich began on February 24, 2022, when it was 1,479 euros per liter. Gasoline, meanwhile, also remains below the price of 1,591 euros per liter that it had at that time.

Likewise, both fuels remain far from the maximums recorded in the summer of 2022in July, when gasoline reached 2,141 euros and diesel 2.1 euros.

Diesel has now been below the price of gasoline for 139 weeks. It thus remains in the usual situation prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which caused the price of diesel to be more expensive than that of gasoline continuously from August 2022 until mid-February 2023, when the dynamic was broken.

Prices in Spain, cheaper than the European average

The price of fuel depends on multiple factors, such as its specific price (independent of that of oil), the evolution of crude oil, taxes, the cost of raw materials and logistics, and gross margins. Besides, The evolution in the price of crude oil does not translate directly to fuel pricesbut it does so with a time lag.

With these levels, The price of 95 unleaded gasoline in Spain remains below the European Union averagelocated at 1,621 euros per liter, and from the eurozone, with an average price of 1,667 euros.

In the case of diesel, The price in Spain is also lower than the EU average, which is 1,529 euros, and from the euro zone, where it has a price of 1,551 euros.
