Iberdrola reaches a semiannual record of distributed electricity


Electricity distributed by Iberdrola surpassed the 124.201 Gigawatts time (GWh) in the first half of the year, which represents a 4.8% increase Regarding the same period of the previous year, according to the data of the energy balance of the period sent by the Company to the National Securities Market (CNMV).

Growth was especially notable in the United Kingdom, where distributed energy increased more than 30%exceeding 20,000 GWh, thanks to the integration of the British distributor Electricity North West (ENW). In Spain, distributed electricity increased 2.5%, to 44,871 GWH in the first half of the year.

By countries, renewable production increases in Iberdrola International Energy (+15.7%) highlighted, thanks to 68% growth in marine wind farms in France and Germany; in Brazil (+11.7%), driven by the highest hydroelectric production; and in Spain (+6.4%), with growth in both renewable technologies (especially solar) and combined cycles.

By technologies, the improvement of marine wind production in the second quarter (+42%) and the good behavior of solarwhich increased by 57.4% in the last three months.

Investments in New Capacity

This generation growth was possible thanks to investments in new capacity, which reached 57,273 megawatts (MW) after having launched 1,800 MW.

In particular, the group’s renewable capacity first exceeded 45,000 MW world It already represents 79% of the total capacity of the group.

This way, Iberdrola continued to drive self -sufficiency and energy security in all countries where it develops its activity, generating 91% of its production in Spain without emissions and 100% in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Brazil, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal or Greece.
