The update brings other improvements, such as support for high availability proxies.
Ocean, a project focused on the decentralization of Bitcoin mining, launched the 0.4.0 beta version of its Datum Gateway protocol, introducing the ability to divide the Proof of Work (POW) between different Bitcoin addresses. The update, announced on July 16, 2025, seeks to facilitate mining operations with multiple wallets, allowing miners to distribute rewards directly. This distribution works directly from the chain, according to Ocean, and allows you to divide income, send donations, establish treasury, among others.
The new Datum POW division function 0.4.0 allows predefined configurations that distribute the rewards automatically. According to developers, the new update is particularly useful For operations that require sharing income or supporting specific causes, maintaining control in the hands of the miners.
Datum is an open source protocol whose purpose, similar to that of other pools such as DMND, is to eliminate the dependence of a centralized entity within the pool that transmits the blocks and choose the transactions to include in them. In a nutshell, it allows miners to select, without intermediaries, their own templates, which reduces the risk of Bitcoin centralization.
Because Datum does not share complete transactions with a mining pool, miners can better protect their privacy, since Merkle’s branch does not reveal specific information about transactions.
In addition to the POW division, version 0.4.0 Beta includes improvements such as High availability proxies supportwhich optimizes the scalability and activity time of mining operations, according to Ocean. Compatibilities with Docker and FreeBSD were also added, facilitating the installation and configuration on various platforms.

The technical details of the update are available in the Github repository, where the links are offered to download the beta version. Among the minor changes, error corrections are included that address previous problemsalthough they are not specified in detail.
Ocean has shown a significant activity in Bitcoin’s mining lately, when he managed to undermine 10 blocks in one day, according to information published by cryptootics. This reinforces its role as a relevant actor in Bitcoin mining, since today is one of the ten pools with the most hashrate in the world.
