Sánchez announces a plan with 400 million euros to aid the purchase of electric cars and 300 million for charging points

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Wednesday a plan to promote the transformation of the automobile sector towards electric mobility, something that he has defended involves making the models more affordable for families. That is why the Government will launch a new line of aid for the purchase of electric cars endowed with 400 million eurosto which it will add another plan of 300 million to increase charging points in the worst connected areas and 580 million euros to the Perte VEC.
“Today we are here so that Spain can manufacture electric cars as competitive as our talent allows and as economical as the Spaniards can afford them,” Sánchez said at the presentation of the Spain Auto 2030 Plan, a battery of 25 measures which aspires to be a lever of transformation for the automotive sector. Among the star initiatives, Sánchez has highlighted the injection of millions to encourage the purchase of electrified models and the expansion of charging points.
The 400 million in purchase aid will be articulated through the new Auto+ Plan that will be launched in 2026. This initiative succeeds the Moves III Plan, which ends on December 31, although it has the novelty that It will be the State that will directly manage the aid instead of the autonomous communities. Until now, the autonomies were in charge of distributing their own resources, which has caused different rhythms in the granting of aid. With the centralization of management, the Government seeks to speed up deadlines and standardize the situation. The aid will thus draw from a single fund, so that all applicants have the same opportunities to access them and that their granting does not depend on whether in a specific community the funds have been exhausted beforehand.
