Social Security grants aid of 1,000 euros for fathers and mothers with children born after 2007: requirements and how to apply
Social Security has different financial aid that it offers to citizens depending on their economic, family or personal situation. Among these benefits is the benefit for birth or adoption of a childan amount granted to fathers and mothers whose child was born or adopted after 2007.
Among its requirements, it must be taken into account that this benefit is specifically aimed at large, single-parent families and in cases of mothers or fathers with disabilities.
Requirements for aid for birth or adoption
As explained by Social Security on its website, the aid is granted to those families, whether single-parent, large or with parents with disabilities (greater than 65%), cwhose children have been born or adopted after November 16, 2007. In addition, it is necessary to comply with a series of additional requirements:
- Residing in Spain legally
- Not receive annual income greater than that established by law in the General State Budgets (in cases of cohabitation, limits will be established for this purpose).
- Not have the right to benefits of this type in any other public social protection regime.
Furthermore, in the case of cohabitation between parents, the right to payment will be established by common agreement (or in the absence of such, it will be granted to the mother).

Amount and maximum income limits
The amount to be received is 1,000 euros, as long as the beneficiary’s income does not exceed the established limit. These limits are established on the Social Security website, and mark some maximum income of:
- Families with 1 dependent child: will receive the benefit if they have income less than 15,001.00 euros.
- Families with 2 dependent children: will receive the benefit if they have income less than 17,102.65 euros.
- Families with 3 dependent children: will receive the benefit if they have income less than 19,204.30 euros.
- Families with 4 dependent children: will receive the benefit if they have income less than 21,305.95 euros.
- Families with 5 dependent children: will receive the benefit if they have income less than 23,407.60 euros.
The scale is progressive and establishes an income limit of 33,915.85 euros for families with 10 children. Social Security specifies that “if the annual income received, of any nature, exceeds the established limit, but is lower than the joint amount resulting from adding the amount of the benefit to said limit, the amount to be paid will be equal to the difference between the income received by the beneficiary and the indicated joint amount”.
Is it compatible with other aids?
The benefit is compatible with other features such as multiple births or adoptions, allowances for a dependent child or minor, orphan’s pension, as well as the special maternity allowance for multiple births or other similar financial aid granted by the regional administrations. Only one of the parents can perceive it.
How can I request aid?
The application must be submitted before Social Security at its electronic headquartersproviding the DNI of the applicant and the other parent, as well as the certificate of registration of beneficiaries and causes, the Family Booka proof of incomethe large family title if applicable, the disability title (if applicable) and the judicial resolution accrediting guardianship (if applicable).
