The average price of second-hand cars now exceeds 13,000 euros

The Second-hand passenger cars became more expensive by 1.9% in October in interannual rate in Spain, with an average price of 13,198 euros, once again exceeding 13,000 euros, according to data published by the National Association of Vehicle Dealers (Ancove).
Between January and October, 1.8 million second-hand passenger cars have been transferred (+4.9%) in Spain at an average cost of 12,999 euros, which implies an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
By price ranges, 23.3% of passenger cars sold in the month48,993 had a cost of less than 3,000 euros and 6.1% exceeded 36,000 euros, almost one point above September.
In relation to the oldest passenger cars -those over eight years old-, Buyers have paid an average of 10,530 euroswith an increase of 5.1% year-on-year and 0.1% monthly compared to September prices. Thus, of the 210,332 passenger cars transferred in October, 130,078 were eight or more years old, 62.3% of the total.
The price of second-hand passenger cars has risen in year-on-year terms in all communities in the month of October, although the greatest increases have occurred in Navarra (with an increase of 8.3% and an average cost of 12,666 euros) and Cantabria (with a growth of 7.3% and an average value of 12,826 euros).
In absolute terms, thehe Community of Madrid has the most expensive average price of a second-hand model with 15,130 euros on average (+1.6%) in the tenth month of the year, followed by Aragón (+5.8% and a price of 13,514 euros), Castilla-La Mancha (same price as last year of 13,495 euros) and Catalonia (+2.6% and 13,186 euros average cost) complete the ‘top 5’ communities.

In the segment of older passenger cars, which has risen on average by 5.8% in Spain, has also increased its prices in all 17 communities. The greatest increase occurs in Navarra, Balearic Islands and La Rioja, with increases of more than 10% compared to twelve months ago and average cost above 10,400 euros.
