The birth aid of 12,000 euros that you can request this 2026 if you live in Madrid

2026 has arrived with aid of up to 12,000 euros for birth in the capital. These subsidies are presented in monthly payments of 500 euros for a maximum of 24 months and are part of a plan by the Community of Madrid to support young mothers with limited resources. The money is designed to be used with direct aid from the City Council for birth or adoption.
The subscription begins from the fifth month of pregnancy or since the birth, adoption or fostering of the minor, and remains until the child turns two years old. If all the monthly payments are received, the total amount amounts to those 12,000 euros that have generated so much interest among Madrid families. The objective of the program is to stop the decline in the birth rate and offer economic stability at this stage.
Requirements to access birth aid
The benefit is aimed at young people, with an age limit set at 30 years at the time of application, and requires legal residence in Spain. Furthermore, it is essential to have lived and be registered in the Community of Madrid for at least five years within the previous ten, adding all the municipalities in the region. This last requirement seeks to guarantee that the aid benefits habitual residents.
Income is another key factor. To collect it in 2026, income cannot exceed 30,000 euros annually in individual declaration or 36,200 euros jointlytaking as reference the latest available personal income tax return. It is also mandatory to maintain residence in the Community of Madrid during the entire period in which payments are received.
The application can be submitted from week 21 of pregnancy, which allows many women start receiving help even before birth. New mothers can also request it, as well as people who have adopted or fostered a minor since January 2022. The processing is carried out before the Community of Madrid, either electronically, through its digital headquartersor in person at the enabled registries.
How to request help?
The administrative process is relatively simple, it requires gathering basic documentation such as the DNI or NIE, the registration certificate, the income tax return and, depending on the case, a pregnancy medical report or the adoption or foster care resolution. Once the application is submitted, monitoring is done from the Community Digital Accountwhere notifications are received.
This regional aid does not come alone. Families residing in the city of Madrid can also add direct benefits from the City Council for birth or adoption. In this case it is single payments, compatible with regional aid, ranging from 500 euros for the first child to 1,000 euros for the third or subsequent children.
