The INE confirms that the economy slowed down in the third quarter and grew by 0.6%

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) confirmed this Tuesday that the Spanish economy advanced 0.6% in the third quarter, driven by household consumption and the rebound in investment. This is reflected in the second reading of the quarterly GDP data that the statistical office released this morning.

In this way, the INE confirms the scenario that it already advanced at the end of October, when the first calculation was published. The failure of the foreign sector, which was a drag on the economy in the third quarter, caused GDP growth to slow down by two tenths in the third quarter compared to the second.

In any case, the final data released this Tuesday consolidate an expansion trend with nine consecutive quarters with quarterly GDP growth of 0.6% or higher. Furthermore, this second reading supports the forecasts of the majority of analysts, who estimate that the Spanish economy will have grown around 2.9% in 2025, which is now coming to an end.
