The OCU requests the temporary withdrawal of the iPhone 12 from stores due to the doubts generated in France over the legality of its emissions

The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) has demanded this Wednesday the temporary withdrawal of the iPhone 12 from stores, as the French authorities did on Tuesday after the National Frequency Agency of that country warned that the emissions of non-ionizing waves from this terminal They exceeded the legal limit set by the European Union (EU).

Based on the results obtained by the French National Frequency Agency, the OCU has clarified, however, that “The limits are only exceeded in the measurements of the extremities (set at 4 W/kg, the most generous), not in the head or trunk (where they cannot exceed 2 W/kg)”.

“They are, furthermore, measurements made in the worst possible situationas required by the regulations: with the mobile phone emitting at maximum power, on the most unfavorable network and in the position in which the mobile antenna has the most impact on the body,” explains the consumer association.

The DANA has caused damage to numerous homes in the Cuenca town of Buenache de Alarcón.

“What’s more, the security limits of the European Union are 50 times less than necessary so that there is an increase of 1 ºC in the temperature of the head,” he adds.

In any case, given the doubts generated, the OCU has asked the Spanish and European authorities to “review and confirm the emissions of this terminal in the different member countries; and also for the rest of the mobile phones currently on the market.” In addition, he urged Apple to “solve this problem of excessive emissions in the terminals in use quickly and free of charge.”
