The tourism sector conspires in Fitur before a record edition with 10,000 companies and an impact of 500 million

More than 10,000 companies of the tourism sector will meet next week in Madrid to celebrate the international tourism fair (Fitur) with figures that anticipate a historic edition. At the height of the industry that generated 218,459 million euros in the last year, 13% of the GDP, the Ifema pavilions will welcome 5% more companies than last year with a notable international presence among the almost 1,000 exhibitors that will have their space at the fair that will open its doors in January 21 to 25reserving the weekend for the general public.

Hotels, travel agencies, airlines, railway operators, technology platforms and all those actors that are part of the global tourism business ecosystem will conspire in a edition that champions Mexico and will be marked by a greater internationalization of its participants. Proof of this will be the greater weight that will be assumed by the regions that have been registering the greatest growth in international visitors to Spain in recent months, such as Africa or Asia-Pacific, whose destinations will expand their presence at the summit by 34 and 22% compared to last year.

Under this backdrop, the organizers of Fitur estimate that the new edition will receive more than 255,000 visitors and generate a impact of 500 million euros in the capitalwhich would leave behind the 487 million that it injected last year, according to the president of Ifema, José Vicente de los Mozos during the presentation of the event before the media. “The expected attendance of more than 150,000 professionals consolidates Fitur as the fair with the most professional visitors in the world,” said the CEO of Indra.

The executive himself has apologized for the works on the Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit that, inevitably, will condition access to the pavilions and reduce the available parking spaces. To address this situation, Ifema will launch an alternative access plan with several entry points. However, given the parking limitations, the organization encourages visitors to use other means of transportation to access the facilities.

A year ago, in the same scenario, the authorities shared the growth that the sector was experiencing until registering volumes of tourists never before seen. Now, in the prelude to the communication of the data that the Minister of Industry and Tourism Jordi Hereu will offer next Thursday, the Secretary of State for Tourism Rosario Sánchez has announced that Spain reached a new record of tourists and their spending in 2025in addition to highlighting the greater deseasonalization and diversification of the tourist offer that has increased the volume of Social Security affiliates to above three million.

Sector personalities such as Maria Valcarce (director of Fitur), Shaikha Al Nowais (Secretary General of UN Tourism), Almudena Maillo (tourism councilor of the Madrid City Council), Miguel Aguñiga (head of the Mexican tourism secretariat), Mariano de Paco (counselor of culture, tourism and sport of the Community of Madrid) or Marco Sansavini (president of Iberia), who has taken advantage of the spotlight to shine a light on the connectivity between Spain and Mexico with a new route that your airline will launch between Madrid and Monterrey starting next June.
