The unions propose raising the minimum wage by 7.5% and bringing it to 1,273 euros per month

The country’s two largest unions will propose to the Ministry of Labor an increase in the interprofessional minimum wage (SMI) of 7.5%, which would mean raising this income to 1,273 gross euros per month in 14 payments. That is, an increase of 89 euros per month compared to the 1,184 euros currently received.
This was announced by the negotiators of UGT and Workers’ Commissions this Tuesday in a joint press conference in which they detailed the position that the two organizations will take to the negotiation. The unions’ proposal assumes that the SMI will begin to be taxed next year and aims to cushion the impact on workers’ pockets.
In addition, union organizations will demand that Labor modify the royal decree that sets the minimum wage so that companies cannot deduct the increase in salary supplements.
