To enjoy the typical Christmas sweets we will have to dig deeper into our pockets. According to an analysis carried out by FACUA-Consumers in Action in which it has analyzed the evolution of 185 prices of chocolates, nougats, mantecados and Polvorones for sale in the main Spanish supermarkets, The cost of Christmas sweets has increased on average by 15.4% in large distribution chains in the last year, with rise peaks of up to 65.3%.

Of the total prices analyzed by Facua in the months of October 2024 and 2025, only three have decreased compared to last year and eight remain the same. The rest, that is, 174 out of 185, are more expensive than last year.

The supermarkets where Christmas sweets have become more expensive or whose sales have increased significantly on these dates have been Hipercor (20.0% on average), followed by Alcampo (19.8%) and Carrefour (18.0%).

In its analysis, the association has recorded 185 prices of different products, among which There are so many white brands from the supermarkets themselves (Estandado, Dulce Noel, El Corte Inglés, Alcampo or Eroski) like other well-known which are sold in different establishments (Nestlé, Ferrero Rocher, Mon Cheri, Suchard, El Almendro, El Lobo, La Casa, Delaviuda, Lindor, Merci, Dulcinea or Vicens).

The organization has also compared the evolution of the prices of Christmas sweets in the last two years. In this case, The average increase in the price of these products has been 22.6% compared to the price they had at the end of October 2023.

Following this analysis, Facua has once again requested the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 to “promote a modification of the law to force companies that incur redflation to having to announce it for a long period of time on the labeling of the affected product.” In this way, “consumers could clearly know how the packaging, format or price of these products has been modified.”
