“They have the obligation to do so with the products”

As usual in January, for days Spaniards can enjoy winter sales. Although brands usually advance discounts by a few days, it was last January 7 when they officially began. It is expected that all types of purchases will be made during these days. In fact, it is planned that about 197 euros on average are spent in this sales periodthat is, an amount that increases by 16 euros compared to last year.

However, it is essential to keep consumer rights in mind to avoid being deceived. For this reason, the National Police wanted to share on their social networks a video with a series of recommendations to take into account during this stage of sales.

The National Police’s advice for sales

“On sales, let only the price go down, but your rights are not negotiable“, the agent begins by saying in the video. In addition, she says that “the product must offer the same features and quality conditions as before.” In the event that the product is defective, “the company has the obligation to replace the item or refund your money“.

What’s more, he explains that “if the business accepts exchanges and returns the rest of the year, it has also the obligation to do so with their discounted products“.

And finally, the agent also remembers that “the law requires that the discounted price is the lowest applied in the last 30 days. If you find two prices on the label or an error in the marking, you have the right to pay the lowest price listed.” And if consumers encounter any type of problem, the police encourage them to call 091 to resolve any type of issue.
