Banco Sabadell appoints Albert Figueras as Network Director in Spain following the retirement of Jaime Matas



The Board of Directors of Banco Sabadell has approved the appointment of Albert Figueras as the new director of Network in Spaina position that he will assume effectively on February 1, 2026, after the retirement of the entity’s current Network Director, Jaime Matas, on January 31, as reported this Friday in a statement. Figueras is general director of Banco Sabadell Mexico from May 2023, a position in which he will be replaced by José Iragorri, current director of Corporate & Investment Banking Mexico.

Matas will leave Banco Sabadell on January 31, after nearly 50 years of uninterrupted commitment to the entity. He has carried out his work in the commercial network in Catalonia and Andalusia, he has been especially linked to the Eastern Territory (Valencian Community, Murcia and the Balearic Islands), where he assumed Business Management after the integration of the CAM, and in 2021 he was appointed Network Director of the bank.

Albert Figueraswho will assume his new responsibility on February 1, is general director of the bank’s subsidiary in Mexico from April 2023. This subsidiary closed the third quarter of 2025 with a net profit of 50 million euros, which represents an increase of 21.3% year-on-year. José Iragorri, with a degree in Public Administration from the University of Mexico and a master’s degree in International Business from the University of Valencia, also has with extensive experience in the financial sector, mainly in Mexico, where he worked first at CitiBanamex for 10 years and then for 13 years at HSBC Mexico. González-Bueno has highlighted his high contribution to the growth of Sabadell México through corporate banking since his arrival at the entity in 2023 and has shown his conviction that “he will continue to make a great contribution from his new responsibility.”
