Car manufacturers anticipate a weaker year than 2024 after registering a new ‘puncture’ in October

Spanish factories face the last two months of the year at the doors of the two million assembled vehicles. What a priori may seem like a good figure is 5.4% less than the volume manufactured until October. The reason? A cocktail of less demand from our first client, Europe, and the change in the production cycle towards electric.

This is the x-ray left by the data offered this Wednesday by the manufacturers’ association Anfac, which puts the number of ‘made in Spain’ vehicles produced in October at 211,072 and confirms a slowdown of 7.4% compared to the same month of the previous year. “As a consequence, It is expected that at the end of this year Spain will not reach 2.3 million vehicles produced“they regret from the employers’ association after envisioning a productive level lower than that harvested in 2024.

“After a September in which production growth was recorded, we return to this year’s trend, characterized by a downward trend in both production and export numbers. The work underway in some plants and the weak demand in the main European markets are affecting our production, for the second consecutive year. We are concerned about this slack in demand because it means less activity, and could have a negative impact on employment. We must not forget that since 2020 Spain has lost the production of nearly 2.7 million vehicles compared to the end of 2019, more than a year of production” warns the general director of the association, José López-Tafall.
