Correos will raise stamps on ordinary letters of up to 20 grams by 7 cents to 0.96 euros

Correos have announced that The cost of sending the ordinary national letter will increase by 7 cents from January 1, 2026the most used product, which will have a rate of 0.96 euros (instead of the current 0.89 euros). The postal entity has argued that this increase for sending national letters and postcards weighing up to 20 grams Its objective is a progressive adaptation to costs, as well as the maintenance of quality and efficiency in the provision of the Universal Postal Service (SPU).
Increase in international rates
Further price increases will affect international letters and postcards (ordinary and standardized up to 20 grams) which will be franked with two euros, compared to 1.85 euros that it currently cost, when the destination is Europe, including Greenland (excluding Albania, Armenia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Georgia, Malta, Moldova and Russia).
Postage for letters and cards to Australia, Canada, USA, Japan, New Zealand and Russia is also increasedwhich will become 2.65 euros; while it will cost 2.10 for the rest of the countries. To establish the new rates, Correos remembers that it has followed the procedure provided for in the Postal Law.
A mechanism that, according to the entity explains, is that Correos – in its capacity as the operator designated by the State to provide the SPU – must communicate any increase that affect the products and services included in it -at least three months in advance- to the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), who verifies that the principles of affordable, transparent and non-discriminatory prices are respected.
