“In Spain there are houses for 80,000 euros that can be your best pension plan”

The economist Gonzalo Bernardos is well known for his appearances on television and on social networks. In recent times, Bernardos has become a firm defender of home purchasesince for him doing so is a guarantee for the future.
In an intervention in the program laSexta XplicaBernardos warns that “the pensions of the future will not be as generous as they are today, and the best pension plan “What you can have is a home.”
The problem is that prices are skyrocketing, but that does not discourage the professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona: “Two minimum wages, in much of Spain, can buy a homebecause they pay less in mortgage payments than in rent,” he maintains.
Of course, the expert explains that “the problem that these people have is that they do not have prior savings. Because we are always thinking about Barcelona and Madrid, but there are many homes in Spain for 120,000 euros, 100,000 and up to 80,000. And, in Zafra, for 30,000,” he says.
In another recent intervention, on the Finec Talks podcast, Bernardos insisted on the same idea: he says that those who want to buy a house should do so quickly, even so, he acknowledges to the interviewer that “It would have been better last year.”
“I advise my daughter to buy one, because if you don’t buy it nowyou’re going to have to pay a lot more money and we’ll see if you can buy it… Hey, and the ones that are good I don’t even have time to go see them: they sell themselves,” added Professor Bernardos.
